Director Software Engineering Working continuously to improve the quality of software products and deliverables through ensuring quality software is produced. Facilitating collaboration with development teams as well as product management, customer support and architecture on the innovative development and best practices of the latest technology for new products as well as enhancing the quality and functionality of existing products, all while ensuring engineering resources are aligned with customer needs and software improvements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the team(s) responsible for the delivery of multiple product development features or an entire platform.
- Ensuring that development is completed on time, on budget, with high quality and to customer specifications for a specific area of work or part of a platform.
- Building highly effective software development teams both onshore and offshore.
- Actively participating in setting the technology direction and also setting departmental budgets with senior staff for capacity planning, including KPIs.
- Acting as a point of escalation for software engineering needs.
- Maintaining responsibility for direct reports’ HR needs and career development goals.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 10 years' related experience with five years' experience managing a software development team including leading offshore development teams. Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Limited travel.
