The AVP, Software Engineering facilitates software engineering best practices at the product / department level while serving as the leader for a large team of software developers. The role provides technical leadership for the ongoing development, support and maintenance of TriZetto Provider Solution (TPS) SaaS products. This role demands, drives and oversees performance and process driven SDLC that adhere to common industry best practice frameworks such as ITIL, CMMi, ITSM, etc. The AVP, Software Engineering for TPS supports and encourages new and progressive ideas which leads to successful development and delivery of TPS software on time and on budget.

- Leading and facilitating development activities with Quality, Efficiency, Effectiveness and Accountability utilizing industry standards such as Agile Methodologies, ITIL Frameworks and CMMI models
- Coordinating the work of onshore as well as offshore development resources
- Driving the technology direction by identifying opportunities and leading the adoption process
- Meets time, customer and budget targets with quality and transparency
- Aligns product technical and application architectures with the corporate vision, driving the product evolution.
- Collaborating with development and business leaders across the organization to ensure that product development and quality is meeting and exceeding client demands.
- Understands and has the “Voice” of the client and industry, translating into industry leading TPS solutions.
- Proven software development leadership and management with a SaaS Healthcare focused solution in progressively more complex environments
- Managing assigned staff including hiring & visioning, leading effective software development environments, performance & salary management, resolving issues, addressing disciplinary actions and recommending dismissals (as warranted), and interpreting and ensuring compliance with related policies and procedures.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred

Experience: Minimum of 10 years' related experience with five years' managing onshore and offshore engineering/software teams and seven years' SCRUM/Agile experience. Scrum Master Certification preferred. Healthcare Industry experience preferred. Having participated in and/or driven certifications for CMMi and ITIL. Worked in near-B2C SaaS based environments as well as Enterprise B2B SaaS based environments required

Technical Competencies:

- Expert knowledge of .NET, C#, ASP.NET, C++, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Web Services, and XML/XSLT.
- Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts relating to Software Development and CMMI organizational maturity methodologies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft TSF and HP ALM/AGM applications

- Behavioral Competencies:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with C-Suite and clients (internal and external)

If located in St. Louis, MO, travel may up to 10-20%. If located outside of St. Louis, MO then travel up to 75%.
